Welcome to Spatial Reasoning Games!

Developed by researchers at the Bremen Spatial Cognition Centre located in Bremen, Germany, these games were created as a part of the CogQDA project, which seeks to bridge the gap between cognitive spatial reasoning, the definition of qualitative models, and its applicability in computer science. The project also focuses on applying qualitative models in two areas:
  • Education, Art, and Design, and
  • Robotics and Ambient Intelligent Systems

These games are intended to test:
  1. If the qualitative spatial reasoning models can be applied to provide spatial intelligence to artificial agents (e.g. those in the video games); and
  2. If the feedback provided by these qualitative spatial descriptors can help users to improve their spatial thinking skills when solving spatial reasoning tests.

Currently, experiments on participants are carried out to see if playing these video games make them improve their spatial reasoning skills. Results will be published in the near future.

The Bremen Spatial Cognition Centre (BSCC) is a leading research institute investigating spatial cognition and reasoning with both humans and artificial systems. The centre hosts a variety of academics and their projects. For more information about the BSCC, visit their website here.
